United Travel was established as an incoming travel agency in the 1960's and was a pioneer in providing agency services to the first package holidays tour operators to Malta. Since then, the company has provided its services to several tour operators, accounting for a significant market share of this sector.

United Travel also established an outbound retail travel division to cater for local customers wishing to travel overseas for business or pleasure. In 1971 the company was accredited by IATA (International Air Transport Association) to issue airline tickets on behalf of its member airlines. Throughout the years, United Travel has been awarded accolades by several airlines in recognition of its sales achievements.

By the mid-1990's, Malta was becoming an attractive proposition to organisers of meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. United Travel responded by setting up a dedicated division in 1998 to provide destination management services to this sector and is proud of its track record in this area too, having extended its services to a number of eminent accounts.
