Despite its
Mediterranean character, Malta is full of British tradition. The greatest
indication of this is the fact that English is the island's second official
language (after Maltese). This trait makes Malta one of the only few truly
bilingual countries.
Studying English in
Malta means that students will benefit from two holidays in one: language
learning and the Mediterranean experience. Lots of tours are available to the
many places of interest that are scattered around the island. These include
Malta's baroque capital, Valletta, as well as the World Heritage Sites such as
the prehistoric temples. Besides these tours, school also offer a variety of
activities in the afternoons and weekends such as trips to Malta's sister
islands: Gozo and Comino. All these tours and goings-on will give students the
opportunities to practice the living language.
When it comes to
choosing accommodation, many students decide to stay with a local host family
in order to be able to immerse themselves in the language within a friendly and
supportive environment. Alternatively, other types of accommodation, such as
school residences, apartments, hotels and guesthouses are also available.
